Participants will receive both classroom instruction and practical exercises to ensure they understand their responsibilities and are well-prepared to carry a concealed weapon safely and legally.

Here’s a simple guide to obtaining a concealed pistol license from the NYPD:

  1. Check Eligibility: You must be at least 21, a New York City resident, and have a clean criminal record.
  2. Take an 18-Hour Conceal Carry Gun Safety Course: Complete a firearm safety course is mandated/required.
  3. Gather Documents: Collect necessary documents like your ID, proof of residency, and recent photos.
  4. Fill Out the Application: Create a profile and complete the NYPD Concealed Pistol License application form. This can be found online or at the NYPD License Division.org
  5. Pay the Fee: Pay the application fee of $340.
  6. Attend an Interview: Go to an interview with the NYPD Licensing Division where you’ll discuss your application and knowledge of firearm safety.
  7. Background Check: Undergo a background check and fingerprinting as part of the application process.
  8. Wait for Approval: Wait for the NYPD to process your application. This can take a few months.
  9. Receive Your License: If approved, you’ll get your concealed pistol license. Follow all rules and regulations for carrying a firearm.
