How Do I Get Started?
Getting a firearm license in New York City sounds complicated — but it’s actually very easy. And with us, it’s even easier. We guide you from start to finish, step by step.
- Step One:
Take the Required Firearm Safety Course
You start by completing the 18-hour NYS-mandated firearm safety course, which includes:
- Classroom Instruction (2 full days — held once a month)
- Saturday & Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Live-Fire Range Training + Qualification
- Monday: 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM
This is one weekend plus Monday — two and a half days total — and it’s required to apply for your concealed carry license.
- Step Two:
Apply Online
After the course, you submit your application through the NYPD Licensing Portal. We guide you step by step, including:
- A full walkthrough of the entire application
- All required forms (including which need to be filled out and notarized)
- A clear checklist of every document you must upload
Simple, organized, and done right the first time — no guesswork.
- Step Three:
Fingerprints & Interview
NYPD will schedule you to:
- Get fingerprinted
- Meet with an investigator
They review your background and application. We explain what to expect so there are no surprises.

- Step Four:
Purchase Order
If approved, NYPD issues a purchase order, allowing you to buy a firearm from a licensed dealer.
- Step Five:
Submit Firearm Photos
After purchase, you’ll:
- Take photos of the firearm
- Submit them to NYPD
We show you exactly how to do it correctly the first time.
- Step Six:
Receive Your License
After final review, NYPD mails you your firearm license.
You are now legally licensed in New York City.
